LIFE AND DEATH

#LIFEANDDEATH

My learning in this arena began with the diagnosis of Cancer to my beloved wife who , to me, was a great teacher imparting knowledge of perfect Caregiving and of the process of Dying peacefully . It has been five years over I have been privileged to be a student of Palliative Care know-how and I have been blessed with the series of Education on Life and Death, Grief and Grieving, Bereavement, Reflection on Death from the esteemed organisation: #ElisabethKublerRossFoundation, and training on Farishtey/ Death Doula from the spiritual mentor #DrAbhijitDam, of KOSISH-the hospice . I am amazed at the philosophical thought of Rabindranath Tagore, the Nobel Laureate who had suffered a series of loss in his own family, poured out his wisdom in his Gitanjali analysing and reflecting on Life and Death. To him Death is not the cessation of life, it's the renewal of life. In Gitanjali 92 we are told it's only through death spiritual truths can be realised. Gitanjali reveals the story of Soul's liberation.
If we follow the philosophical thought of #DrElisabethKublerRoss , I have mentioned only two , we will have the inner meaning of Death, an integral part of Life. According to her Grief which is natural response is able to heal pain of the loved one left behind.
While in training of Death Doula teaching learning sessions imparted by Dr Abhijit Dam has opened up my eyes how to accompany the Dying person at the end for his/ her comfort leading to Healing and peaceful journey of the Soul.
I have just started reading the marvellous philosophical book "The Tibetan Book Of Living And Dying" by Sogyal Rinpoche. Gautam Buddha began to teach the woman Krisha Gotami who lost her child and wished her child's revival by the grace of Buddha, " If you want to know the truth of life and death, you must reflect continually on this : There is only one law in the universe that never changes --- that all things change, and that all things are impermanent. The death of your child has helped you to see now that the realm we are in --- Samsara -- is an ocean of unbearable suffering."
❤️🙏 I am now on shore of the Ocean in a quiet and calm surrounding waiting for the Voyage to be embarked , prepared myself to accept the reality with a hearty warm welcome , on receiving the summon any day which is pre- scheduled, I don't know WHEN, but mentally I am strong to hug---.
I have suffered loss of a number of beloved family members eg , father, mother, my elder uncle (Bore Baba) , my elder brother, my cousin brothers, and sisters, all elders to me , besides the recent loss .

The theme My Care My Comfort advocates the rights of the patients to have Care and Comfort with empathy compassion and love from the healthcare providers . Palliative care treats the person as a whole, not the disease, mitigating total pain -- physical emotional social and economic and spiritual validating the prospect of palliative care and hospice care to provide better quality of life and dignified peaceful death even prolonging the life span of the terminally ill patients undergoing palliative care. GOOD DEATH

#TOUCH_HEALING_BOND# #NONVERBAL_COMMUNICATION# #PALLIATIVE_CARE# #LOVE#              #A_SOFT_TOUCH_SYMBOL_OF_LOVE#     Touch symbolises LOVE, the terminal patient with non-communicable disease like cancer 🦀 needs from the loved one, the primary caregiver. I observed myself when I just placed my palm on her head just before her journey to the unknown world, her eyes , opened in pain before death, became closed being relieved of pain, looked calm.      The unique experience I gained : at the time of her dying moment, I put my hand on her forehead and chanted a prayer, it was a marvel to me she smelled the sense even in her vegetative state and the soul departed immediately with peace, I could honestly feel .        So the soft loving touch promotes physical and psychological well-being .

DREAMS BEFORE THE DYING

Many experience vivid and meaningful dreams and visions just a few days before dying. American Journal of Hospice and Palliative Care on studying focus primarily on the perspective of the patient that most dreams are the source of personal comfort, peace, acceptance of death --- a transition from dreaming about living person to dreaming about the dead.      My beloved wife with cancer combated two and a half year with her indomitable spirit and willpower. She left me three years and six months, I still miss her a lot. I was the sole caregiver for her. I was the witness of a many incident, the most interesting is her dream.  1. During her ongoing chemotherapy she frequently dreamt that she was drowning in the river. Oneday she dreamt that she was saved by a small boy from drowning. When she shared I opined that treatment might be responding , a message of recovery. It comforted her, may be the little boy , representative of God. 2. Oneday sh...
